The world without photography will be meaningless to us if there is no light and color, which opens up our minds and expresses passion.

We use a combination of Photogrammetry and 3D Modelling to recreate our worlds.

Case Study: XR Academy

We have created animated 3D models of products like the PrograMil One. The novelty in what we do is the ability to plug in an animated 3d model into a website allowing for universal access to what would be hard to get information. What is different about our approach?

A unified XR strategy which is based on usability and ease of content delivery.

This is all thanks to Web VR, an open source standard allowing for many possibilities in the areas of training, product showcasing and even multi user events. In this website we show case our work and give you an idea of just how useful packaging in HTML really is.

There is a important factor behind why companies are adopting this new technology, the ability to show a product in detail remotely. In our case, we can train people on complex products without displacing.

Building Blocks

We have developed a 3D “wizard” that guides users through the processes of interest. This wizard is a rounded rectangle box which floats above the 3D. It contains the steps and lets the user know where he/she is in the learning process.

We have added a feature which allows the user to “Take a picture” of whatever they are doing in 3D. This is an excellent way of making notes. Finally, we added a “Reset Camera” function which send the camera back to the starting in case you move around too much and want to get back to the start.

Each module has its own VR version along with AR which can be accessed from the top right of the screen.

Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality is an extremely powerful learning tool when used in the right context. All of the simulations have three formats allowing for the person interested to explore every aspect of what he/she is trying to understand.

In this example we will render the device in AR and show how the water is changed in a complex milling machine. You can try this right here!

Open the Camera app from the Home screen, Control Center, or Lock screen. Select the rear facing camera. Hold your device so that the QR code appears in the viewfinder in the Camera app. Your device recognizes the QR code and shows a notification. Hit the notification and you will download the AR model.

Once downloaded you will detect the plane where you would like the Milling Machine placed.

Simulations Using Hands

We have created a pair of hands in 3D and VR that help the user understand how to handle delicate parts of the device.

The hands are life like and give the user a sense of understanding that words and images alone do not. We can stop and zoom in to see exactly how to manipulate an object.

This image shows how we explain the correct and incorrect procedure for loading the PM1. The end result is either a thumbs up or a no gesture.

Interactivity

Every detail of the device operation has been recreated in a real way. One of the key features in our development has been to recreate the Ivoclar PM1 control app. This is an ideal way of showing a customer how to fully operate the device without risking damage or accidental results.

In this example we can see how a complex milling machine can be viewed through a simple web interface. We can control the device with HTML which means not only being able to view in a normal desktop, but also being able to create HTML based prototypes which can gauge the users understanding.

This opens a whole new world of possibilities in terms evaluating users interactions with a fast prototype than can be updated almost instantly.

The following example is a fully working demonstration of how we can perform a complex task like change the water on the machine.
